Jackson magazine covers: death photo on 'OK!' to celebrating his life on others

Will OK! Magazine actually sell more magazines because it has a picture of a lifeless Michael Jackson on the cover?

It has been reported that the tabloid paid $500,000 for the exclusive rights for the photo on the cover of their "Official Tribute Issue." Just how is a close-up photo of Jackson's lifeless face: eyes closed and a respirator over his mouth cover going to make anyone choose to purchase the magazine?

Does OK! seriously believe the photo, or the "in loving memory “slapped on going to make people reach over all the magazine tributes and choose theirs?

Other magazines: including Time, People, Newsweek and Rolling Stone are expected to put out Michael Jackson tributes and none of them is expected to stoop down to the level that OK! has with their picture choice.

Anyone who is driven by curiosity can simply look at the OK! cover in the supermarket before purchasing another magazine’s commemorative issue.

Michael Jackson fans want a Jackson tribute issue that respectively memorialized Michael Jackson’s life. They already understand the impact Jackson had on American pop music, and how he helped to launch the music video genre with his Thriller video.

Fans want to remember Jackson’s signature vocal style, his dance moves and his military fashion sense that influenced pop culture worldwide. They don’t want to have to see his tragic ending!
